Narrative text assignment: Indonesian Folklore, "Timun Mas"

Once upon a time, lived husband and a wife. They were a dilligent farmers, and always work hard on their paddy fields. They've been married for years but still not have a child yet.

Everyday they prayed and prayed for a child. And one night, while they were praying, a giant passed their house and heard their prayer. The Giant said to them, "Don't worry, I can give you a child" the farmers was very happy, "...But you have to give her to me when she is 17 years old" They agreed, they didn't even think the risk of losing their child later.

After that, The Giant gave them some cucumber seeds and told them to plant it.

Days by days, finally, a big golden cucumber grew from the plants. The farmers picked and cut it. They were very surprised to see a beautiful baby girl inside the cucumber.

They named her 'Timun Mas' what means The Golden Cucumber.

Years passed by, Timun Mas grew into a beautiful lady. She is 17 now. Her parents were very sad, they knew they had to keep their promise to The Giant, but they didn't want to lose their daughter.

Suddenly, a big Giant came into tehir house, "My daughter, take this bag, it can save you from the giant, now run! run Timun Mas! Save your life!"

The Giant was very angry, he knew the farmers want to break their promises. He chased Timun Mas away.

The Giant was getting closer and closer. Timun Mas then opened the bag and threw a handful of salt to the Giant. It became a sea, the Giant had to swim to get over Timun Mas, but unfortunately he can pass through it. Then, Timun Mas threw the other things she had in her bag, Chilli. It became a jungle with sharp thorns trees that can hurt the Giant, but again, the Giant can pass through it. However, the Giant was still able to catch Timun Mas. Timun Mas threw her third magic stuff, Terasi*. It became a big swamp. The Giant was very tired to swim the swamp, so he was drowning and died.

Then, Timun Mas went home immediately, their parents were so happy that they finnaly together again.

BALI with FELLIOSIX

4 months ago, precisely from 24 until 26 May 2011, My Junior High School's generation called 'FELLIOSIX' and me went to Bali for farewell trip! We went there by Airplanes. It takes 2 hours from Jakarta to Denpasar by plane. We arrived at 11.00 AM.

When we arrived, we took dzuhur prayer first. While waiting the second group arrived (including 91-93 class), We, group 1 (94-96 class), went to Sanur beach. Unfortunately, we stayed there only 20 minutes. After all groups assembled, we went directly to our first destination, Tanah Lot! Super Excited! We took pictures, bought souvenirs, and many! After maghrib we left Tanah Lot and had dinner before back to the hotel.

The second day, we went to Turtle Island. In this island, there were not only turtles, there're snake and eagles too. After played with turtles, we went back to Tanjung Benoa and had Watersports! There were Parasailing, Flying Fish, Banana Boat, and Jet Ski. We felt so much fun! But, we had to go back to the hotel 5 PM. We left Tanjung Benoa.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were told to take shower quickly because we had to go to Jimbaran Beach for Farewell Night. We had dinner, watched perfomance, and last, the most sad part was when we watched our documentary video & photos from when we're at the 7th class until 9th now. We hugged each other, laughed, and cried.

The last day, we only went to Dreamland to watch Sunset, and then to Ngurah Rai Airport for leaving back to Jakarta. My group got the first flight.

3 days in Bali won't be enough to replace 3 years of togetherness. Thank you for the amazing trip.
